Our Goals

Process Goals

Remove all city staff involvement in originating policy.  Staff will no longer propose programs or ideas to council; they will exclusively respond to questions and report on actions taken.

Return agenda-setting authority to council from staff.

Drastically reduce staff spending authority.

Create a means for staff to be held accountable and terminated for poor job performance.

Minimize use of executive sessions by city council.

Require enforceable contracts on city projects with firm deadlines and numbers and serious penalties for performance failure.  End the use of change orders.

Remind the city attorney that his advice is not binding and that the responsibility for making legal determination rests with council.

Require department heads, if no one else among city staff, to live within city limits. Ideally, require a minimum residence period in Sedona prior to employment for all city employees.

Fix the referendum and initiative signature requirements to facilitate democratic control of Sedona’s government.
